How Much Fondant Do I Need?

This is always tricky to work out, but please find my guide below. It can depend on so many factors, so my chart is based on a 2 layer approx 3" deep cake.

Don't forget to account for the following things

Extra Deep Cake - you need to roll the icing thick for these and so definitely can't skimp.

Has your cake got a marzipan or ganache base layer - You can roll thinner, as you have a base coat.

What brand of icing are you using - some are extra stretchy and you can use a little less.

As ever, my tips are based on what works for me, but there are so many methods and styles that it is always best to be comfortable with what works for you.
